Meme Generator
Upload an image, add top and bottom caption text in the classic meme style, and download the result.
How the text sizing works
Caption text is automatically wrapped to fit within the image width, and scales relative to the image's own size so the same font size setting looks proportionally similar whether you upload a small or large photo. Text renders in the classic bold font with a black outline, so it stays readable against both light and dark backgrounds.
A note on using other people's images
Only add captions to images you have the rights to use — your own photos, or images explicitly licensed for this kind of reuse (like public domain or Creative Commons images with permissive terms). Adding text to a copyrighted photo doesn't remove the original creator's rights to it.
Frequently asked questions
Why isn't my text fitting on the image?
Text automatically wraps to multiple lines if it's too wide for the image — if it still looks cramped, try reducing the text size slider, or shortening the caption.
Can I use any image for a meme?
Only use images you have the rights to caption and share — your own photos, or ones under a license that permits this kind of use. Captioning a copyrighted photo doesn't change who owns the rights to the underlying image.
What font does this use?
It uses Impact (the classic meme font) if available on your device, falling back to a bold sans-serif font otherwise — most computers have Impact installed by default.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No — the caption is drawn directly onto the image using an HTML canvas in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
